When acting as a referee, you may be asked to provide information about yourself including your name, address, contact details, and details regarding the suitability of the tutor.
  • Criminal Background Checks: When you register on the Website as a Tutor, we may ask you to provide details of any criminal convictions (including background certificates, criminal checks, or relevant regional update service details).
  • Payment Details: When you request a lesson from a Tutor, we may collect your payment information, such as credit or debit card information. We handle payment card information securely via a third-party payment gateway. We do not store full payment card details directly on our servers.
  • Communications and Media: We may also collect information about your usage of the Website and information about you from the messages you post on the Website, including but not limited to messages you send to a Tutor, files you upload, and your communications with us via email and SMS. We record all online lessons that take place through our platform, store any files you may upload to the online classroom, and data on any interactions you may have in the classroom.
  • Technical Data: We collect technical data about your use of the Website, including the device and browser that you are using, your IP address, your time on the Website, and the pages that you have visited.

How We Use Your Data

  • Your information will enable us to provide you with access to the relevant parts of the Website and to supply the services you have requested.

  • For Students: We will use this data to put you in touch with the Tutor you have contacted or other Tutors that may be able to help with your tuition request. The information will also enable us to bill you for lessons you have completed and contact you where necessary concerning our services.

  • For Tutors: Your identity documents will allow us to comply with Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance regulations, screening requirements, and your bank details will allow us to pay you for lessons you have completed. We will screen your application to ensure that your qualifications and experience make you suitable to tutor with us and to verify your right to work in your jurisdiction.

  • Tutor Background Verification: If you are a Tutor who has registered details of any criminal convictions or background checks, we will verify these details against appropriate regional databases or official certification bodies.

  • Tax and Revenue Reporting: If you are a Tutor using the website, we may share your name, address, date of birth, tax identification number/Social Insurance Number (SIN), earnings, and number of lessons taught with relevant tax authorities (such as the Canada Revenue Agency or HMRC) as required by law.

  • Automated Dashboard Ranking: If you are a Tutor using our website, in order to make the best matches possible, we may use automated systems to rank you against other Tutors when displaying search results to Students. The main scoring categories used to inform this process are communicated to you through your dashboard. If your score falls below a certain threshold, or if you are deemed an inactive Tutor, your profile may automatically be removed from search results.

  • Dispute and Safeguarding Resolution: Your Website use and messaging history allow us to provide you access to your communications history and help us settle any disputes that may arise. We screen messages to ensure that contact details are kept private until a Lesson Booking is confirmed.

  • Lesson Recordings: If you have completed an online lesson either as a Tutor or a Student, we record and store them to help with safeguarding and ensuring the quality of online lessons. All lessons are recorded and made available for playback to parents and students.

  • Marketing Communications: Where you have indicated consent, you agree that we may use your information to let you know about our other products and services that may be of interest to you, including services that may be the subject of direct marketing. We may contact you by post, telephone, SMS, email, social media, or direct mail.   • Match Disclosures: If you are a Student, we may disclose your first name, contact details, and general address to a Tutor you have booked so they can deliver tuition services. If you are a Tutor, we will share your public profile data, first name, approximate location, reviews, and references with prospective students. If you agree to a lesson, your address or direct contact info may be shared with the Student.

  • Corporate Adjustments: In the event that we sell any or all of our business to a buyer, or enter into a joint venture with another business entity, your information may be disclosed or transferred to the target company, our new business partners, or their advisors.

Security We take protecting your data seriously and take organizational and technological steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, accidental loss, alteration, destruction, and damage.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will take all reasonable steps to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of data that you choose to send us electronically, and sending such information is entirely at your own risk.

*Data Retention
